1st Annual Art Auction a Huge Success for Survivors
Our 1st Annual Art Auction Raised $25,000 to support Emergency Housing and Shelter for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Chatham County! Thank you to our amazing community for your generous support!
Second Bloom of Chatham hosted its 1st Annual Art Auction fundraiser on April 21, 2024, raising $25,000 to support the organization’s efforts to build emergency housing and shelter services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Chatham County.
The event, attended by over 200 people, featured an exciting live art auction full of art generously donated by many talented local artists and from our friend Cindy Edwards in honor of her late husband, Tommy Edwards of The Bluegrass Experience, a silent auction of art and local experiences donated by many local vendors and businesses, and lots of community building and networking among those who are passionate about Second Bloom’s mission to support those experiencing domestic and sexual violence in Chatham County.
The live art auction was hosted by Pam Smith, who is no stranger to art, fashion and Pittsboro. She curated and owned Beggars and Choosers for many years in Pittsboro and has an eclectic style which makes her a natural auctioneer.
Cindy Perry, one of the volunteers who helped to organize this event, said “The Edwards donation was an inspiring starting point for a community-wide art event, and with the help of local artists, a covey of volunteers, and dedicated art lovers, we were successful in this first major fundraiser.”
The event’s success highlights the community’s commitment to supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Chatham County. Second Bloom is thrilled to be able to build on its efforts to establish new emergency housing and shelter services for survivors utilizing the funds raised at the event.
